The world is in transition. Established ideas and lifestyles are under pressure: everything is in flux. This volatility and ambivalence can lead to uncertainty and even fear. The 2018 Bruges Triennial: Liquid City offers a beacon of hope, presenting a fluid, open and engaged city; Bruges as an engine of social, cultural and political change; a creative melting pot for encounters of all kinds; and a breeding ground for urban innovation. The liquid city of Bruges - literally ringed by the water that once brought it prosperity and fame - becomes a metaphorical Liquid City, characterised by fluidity, transition, influx and exchange: a continuous artistic dynamism that at times flows gently and at others turbulently through the city. The 2018 Bruges Triennial: Liquid City invites internationally acclaimed artists and architects from around the world to interpret the 'Liquid City' theme. They create an art trail dotted with temporary hospitable spaces, conceptual representations and unexpected places for encounters within the historic city centre.

Exhibition: De Bond, Brugge, Belgium (01.04-18.10.2015) / Stadhuis, Brugge, Belgium (20.05-17.10.2015) / Arentshuis, Brugge, Belgium (20.05-18.10.2015).

The inspiration for the publication came after our strong collaboration and successful presentation of the duo exhibition 'Synergia' in the Poortersloge in Bruges. We see the book as a renewed meeting and cross-pollination of each other as visual artists. Together we go on a voyage of discovery of points of contact, in search of a new transitory space where our artworks and practices flow into each other. Several national and international curators, writers & art critics were invited to make a textual contribution and reflect on our work and the possible synergy.

Nadia Naveau blends seriousness with play, and her ability to seduce viewers, while evoking a sense of strangeness is unmatched. Let?s Play it by Ear is not only a retrospective of twenty years of artistic practice, but also, like her sculptures, a visual puzzle of materials and references to the past and present.

Sawing a plank is like going for a walk by Kato Six (b. 1986) is published on the occasion of Kato’s solo exhibition at M Leuven this autumn. This book encapsulates 10 years of her quest as an artist. The work of Kato Six (b. 1986) balances between abstract and figurative art. She works on different themes which she develops into series or ensembles. Architecture, design, domesticity and utensils all act as important references. Starting there, she uses recognisable and everyday materials such as MDF, stone, plastic or textiles. Kato wants to question certain affinities and let the viewer look at familiar objects or images from a different perspective. As a viewer, you feel connected to the object or image but the actual meaning or function no longer applies.
